I've been tagged by Elisabeth. Here are seven random quirks/habits about me...
1. I am irrationally terrified of rushing water…as in, rivers, waterfalls, etc. I love looking on from a distance, but don't even try to get me near said rushing water, as I am already envisioning myself being washed downstream, never to be found again.
2. I frequently read the last few pages of a fiction book first. That way, I know which characters are still around at the end, and I can actually enjoy the rest of the book. Otherwise, I FLY through the book and miss many details in the middle in the mad rush to get to the end!
3. Speaking of reading, I can read a fiction book in no time flat (nonfiction takes a bit longer.) While on vacation, I've been known to read two books in one day and start in on the third before bed (though this is tough to do, as I hate to put a book down without finishing it--so I will stay up waaay too late to get it done!)
4. I can't stand ice in my water.
5. I reeeally dislike talking on the telephone to people I don't know…actually, to anyone who's not family or a close friend. I mean, I would rather have a root canal than pick up the phone. I can't explain it really. That's why I love e-mail.
6. I hate wearing shoes--and even more so, socks. But I love to buy shoes.
7. I hate the beach. I hate sand, I hate salt water, I hate the icky feeling of being finely coated in gritty nastiness just for the experience of basking by crashing waves. Give me the lake any day!

Some more reasons we are friends:
1. I, too, do not like the beach. While I do enjoy the beauty and vastness of it from afar, putting on a bathing suit and laying in the sand or getting in the water are not my idea of a good time. at all. Now if we were talking fully clothed, sky full of stars, walking down the beach with a boy holding my hand, we have a completely different story.
2. I do not like to put down a good fiction book. I am pretty sure that I was up all night the first time that I read Redeeming Love so that I didn't have to put it down. On the other hand, I have a horrible time getting through most non-fiction. even things that I really think I want to read. Unless, of course, the book is by Henri Nouwen. I usually don't have any trouble with those, 'cause he is amazing.
3. I don't like talking on the phone to people I don't know either! Even like to call and order a pizza. Email is definitely my preferred route. And in that case, I do believe the last time I wanted pizza, we ordered it online. :-)
We really need to be friends again. Unfortunately, i pretty much think that the drive to Columbia is torturous. Something about I-20 that I despise, although I supposed that 85 to 26 probably doesn't take that much longer... Regardless, we should meet in Greenville sometime where our friends Jen, Em, AOK, and AW live and hang out!
I love my Lissa!
